A patchwork quilt photographed in color. There is a white rectangular patch at the top of the quilt that features from left to right the outline of an Afro-American woman, the outline is faceless and only appears from the shoulders up. The caricature wears a pink top, an orange head-wrap, and gold hoop earrings. The rectangular section reads from left to right, top to bottom: Afro-American Women and Quilts. Following this rectangle, the rest of the quilt is made up of 12 square patches, aligned in 4 rows of 3 squares. The first row from left to right features a square made up of a red and white flower, a square with two woman figures and a bird flying overhead, and a blue and white patchwork flower. The second features a pink, blue, and purple flower with a long green stim, a center square with wording and a red geometric shape outlining it, and lastly a red and purple flowered patch with a long green stem. The third row features brown geometric shapes over a white background, a center square made up of red, blue, yellow, and purple flowers, and a third square featuring blue and white geometric shapes. The last row features a square with a red boot, a square made up of orange, blue, yellow, gray, and plaid rectangles forming a pattern, and the last is a silhouette of a Black woman who wears black a plaid head wrap, plaid shirt, red skirt, and black shoes. The quilt is bordered in brown.
